Services Subject to Financial Needs Test
There is an economic needs test for the following vocational rehabilitation (VR) services purchased by the Department for the Visually Handicapped:
- Physical and mental restoration
- Maintenance
- Tuition or vocational training fees
- Books and supplies
- Transportation (except incidental to assessment to determine eligibility and VR needs)
- Telecommunications, sensory and other technological aids and devices (except when such equipment consists of special adaptive devices and are essential for an individual to participate in a vocational training program, employment, or assessments)
- Occupational licenses, tools, equipment, initial stocks and supplies
- Personal assistance services
- Non-assessment services provided during extended evaluation
- Financial need will be applied for post-employment services when those services listed above, that are based on financial need, are provided
The designated state unit has established, in writing, and will maintain its policies on determination of economic need.
