Evaluation and Report of Progress in Achieving Identified Goals and Priorities and Use of Title I Funds for Innovation and Expansion Activities
The evaluation and report of progress in achieving identified goals and priorities and use of Title I funds for innovation and expansion activities will be conducted in the following manner:
- The progress toward achieving the goals and priorities established in Attachment 4.12(c)(1) will be monitored by the Rehabilitation Council during its quarterly meetings.
- The Council will also monitor the strategies for innovation and expansion activities identified in Attachment 4.12(d); the progress will be reported annually in State Plan attachment 4.12(e).
- The Rehabilitation Council's Annual Report to RSA and the Governor.
The following activities were identified in the Strategic plan for FY 99, and they were accomplished. For FY 2000 the third-year Strategic plan activities became the innovation and expansion activities. They are being monitored, and it is anticipated those goals and objectives will also be achieved.
- During FY 99 and FY 2000 the funds were spent to allow adaptive personal computers to be purchased for high schools students at the end of the junior year when it has been determined that a computer is needed for training and/or employment upon completion of school.
- Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) were developed with high school students who can utilize a computer to pursue a vocational goal.
- A couple of regional offices assisted in arranging accessible training centers in the community for computer training.
- Regional offices arranged for adaptive technology training in the community for service providers to make training more accessible for individuals who are blind. Additional service providers will increase opportunities for customers to make choices.
- Wages were paid for a new statewide technology resource position to provide support and/or resources to individuals who are blind, employers, and service providers needing information regarding adaptive technology. This activity has had positive results, those wages will be continued, and paid for out of regular Title I administrative funds.
- A transitional week at the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired provided special programming for deafblind persons during the summer of 1999 and will be provided again during 2000.
- An evaluation and report of progress in achieving identified goals and priorities and use of Title I funds for innovation and expansion activities identified for July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001 will be submitted during the period July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 to report on the status of the proceeding year's activities.
- Expenses for conducting Rehabilitation Council business were paid for from funds designated in 4.12(d).
