Enterprise Division
Virginia Industries for the Blind
Established almost nine decades ago, Virgiania Industries for the Blind (VIB) started as a private organization in Charlottesville, VA through the efforts of the Virginia Association of Workers for the Blind. Now as part of the Enterprise Division of the DBVI, VIB works in coordination with the DBVI Services Division and the Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired (VRCBVI) to provide a full range of employment, training, and other vocational services to blind individuals across the Commonwealth. Visit the VIB web site.
Business Enterprise Program
The vending facility program for the blind, known as the Randolph-Sheppard Act, provides qualified blind persons the opportunity to operate businesses on federal, state, and other property by granting a priority on such property. The Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) secures the location, furnishes equipment, initial stock, and operating capital. For more information on the Business Enterprise Program (BEP), visit its webpage.
